Britney's third album, the self-titled 'Britney', saw Britney take more control over her music. The disc moved away from the pop sounds of her first two albums and saw Britney experimenting with more r'n'b sounds. Britney co-wrote 6 of the tracks which made the album, and performed 2 other's she wrote on tour which did not make the album. The discs lead single was the Neptunes-produced 'I'm A Slave 4 U' which Britney premiered at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA's). The second single to be released in the UK was 'Overprotected' with the USA getting 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman' instead. The singles then flipped as the rest of the world got 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman' and the USA got 'Overprotected', although with a new video and single remix by Darkchild. The fourth single from the album was a "Co-Ed" remix of 'Boys' by the Neptunes which featured Pharrel Williams, the track was featured in the third Austin Powers movie and was the final single from the album in the USA. While the rest of the world got 'Boys', 'I Love Rock'n'Roll' was released in Europe (except for France where 'Anticipating' was released, accompanied by a live video). The UK later received 'I Love Rock'n'Roll' as the final single from 'Britney' in the fall of 2002.
